Located on 188 pastoral acres, the WRI was originally part of Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller’s homestead and model cattle farm. The Institute was established in 2005 with a significant grant from the Winthrop Rockefeller Charitable Trust. Together with the University of Arkansas System, the Charitable Trust took over the facilities previously occupied by Winrock International and decided to establish an educational conference center.
